Our Story

As Founders from Colorado, it was important to honor the earth by establishing eco-positive practices, holding product development and supply chain close-in, helping the hemp farmers and spending time with them in the fields bathed in Colorado sunshine.

Powerful Plant Medicine! What are Trichomes?

trichomes
What are these funny little tentacles? You are looking at trichomes, and they are responsible for producing POWERFUL medicine in PLANTS. These are glands that produce all of the important phytochemicals in cannabis. They are sticky, shiny, and are aromatic, with the smells unique to different strains of plants.
Trichomes are small, mushroom-shaped glands on the surface of cannabis flowers and leaves. They produce resin rich in cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. In nature, plants produce secondary compounds to protect them against pests and excessive heat. The resin also helps pollen stick to the flowers.
With genetic selection, soil quality, lighting, and controlling stress, trichome levels can be boosted to give hemp plants higher level of cannabinoids and terpenes. Cannabinoids, terpenes, and other phytochemicals are the very powerful anti-inflammatory components in cannabis.
Trichomes also help our growers identify when to harvest the hemp plants. Transparent trichomes show that flowers are still young and premature. When they are ready to be harvested, the trichomes become mostly milky, with a few turning to an amber color.
Because of the huge importance of these trichomes, our farmers take great care in growing, harvesting, and drying our hemp plants. The content and quality of CBD and other important phyto-chemicals are rigorously maintained!
